Can a Mother still request for Child Support from the Father if the child is 18 and going to college?
Question:
Answer:
No chance in court. He has fulfilled his financial obligations.
Not a chance.
ask a lawyer
nope
No.
No. Once the child is 18, he is legally an adult. A parent cannot be forced to pay more. It would be nice of him to help with college, but it is not required of any parent to do so, whether they are divorced or not.
I thought that the legal obligation of child support ended when the child was legally an adult, at age 18. I could be wrong, though.
From what I have seen before, the only thing she'll have a good chance of getting money for is tuition/supplies.
not a prayer.once any child turns 18,unless mentally or physically disabled, they are an adult and the child support stops.if she takes him to court she will lose.
yes and no. This depends on where you live and/or If it is in your divorce decree.
My ex has to pay for his son until he dies because he is considered mentally handicapped (not a whole lot either)
and he has to pay for his daughter until she is out of college.
No, unless physical or mental problems are involved. At the age of 18 the child is now an adult. Child Support is only for children not adults.
you will have to get with your attorney, MY divorce says he pays when the kids go to college
i am now 23 and my dad still as to pay my mom child support as he still owed her some money from when i was younger if he is paid up to date then i don't think she can claim but if he still owes some then yes she can
Depends on your state. A friend of mine went through this and the normal is 21 if they are in college. IF the child mansipates (spelling?) then the support would stop. Call an Attorney.
At 18 you are on your on --anything that you get from your parent is plus!!!!!
when my daughter graduated at 18 her father stop child support that Monday morning. depends on the state that you live in my lawyer said that my daughter could take him to court to request that he continue to help her through college. hoped this helped.
She can "request" a yacht from GW Bush, that does not mean that the request will be granted.
It all depends on the law and the contracts. Where are you? Does the law there support the claim? Does the divorce decree support the claim? Otherwise it is up to the kid to ask him directly to help her one "adult" to a parent "adult".
NO THE FATHER NO LONGER HAS TO PAY.
Actually yes if there was an agreement at the time of divorce.
