Will my ex have to continue to pay child support while my daughter is in college but living at home?

Question:
My daughter lives with me and my ex pays child support - she is going to go to a JR college and live at home. Does he have to continue to pay for child support while she is living at home?

Answer:
I thought once she turned 18 he didnt have to pay child support.
I don't think he has to continue paying child support after she turns 18 no matter what the circumstances are.
Normally, child support ends at 18.
Only if you had it put in the divorce papers.
If they are 18 and not going to college, he is in heaven but as long as she's in college you are all set. Im going through the same thing. Good luck!
It really depends on what your child support court order states. If there is no court order on it, it depends on the state regulations. The best idea is to talk to your local child support office for further information if it is not in the court order.
Once she turns 18 he no longer has to pay child support to you for her. He can help pay for college if he was a nice guy.,
it all depends on what u guys agreed on. im 22 in college and i do live at home, my dad has to pay until i finish college and that when i deside i wanna finish. but it aint squat what he pays if dosent even cover my books.but in most cases if shes in school he has to pay till she is 24.if ur in cali.it all depends.

call ur state/county child supprot agency.n they can help u...
You need to check the divorce papers. They should give conditions under which child support no longer applies. Generally, there is an age (sometimes 18) at which it stops, but other times it will simply say "the age of majority." In that case, support can continue to age 21, but there may be conditions, like the child has to be in school, etc. Where your child lives while at school generally has no bearing on when support stops.
This should be listed in your divorce decree. If it simply says until she is 18, he is free of support after her birthday. Talk to a lawyer and have the lawyer look at what the decree says regarding support or payment responsibilities for college. The fact that she is at a junior or community college does not change the fact that it is college.
Hopefully not. Its called CHILD support not, ADULT support. At 18, your daughter is an adult. She can get a job and pay you rent if you're that hard up for money. He's already paid for 18 years- stop mooching off him.
