You didn't mention your school major or your talents but if the Medical Field is anyplace close to you, they are ALWAYS hiring
My son works at The Cheesecake Factory. This was/is his first job. He makes more than minimum wage, and he loves his job. They have a hard time keeping reliable people so they appreciate the fact that he's there on time, and takes pride in doing his job well.
When looking for a job he applied to several places in the mall, and also applied for a position in Walmarts optical department (the pay was above minimum wage too). I personally thought that he should have taken the job at Walmart, but he chose The Cheesecake Factory.
Start there, with the local restaraunts (not fast food - actual restaraunts). Check the mall, and other retailers for "different" positions. Different meaning non-sales clerk type positions.
Hope that helps. :)
Try looking on www.snagajob.com they have only hourly employment.
