Did you hear about the High School Student that was Denied College Education because of his Status?
Question:
I think these kids need a chance they're usually some of the smarter kids wanting to do something about Immigrations laws.
Answer:
And why has he not applied for citizenship? He could go through the process and get a pass.
I think he needs to get a job at a taco stand and work his way through school like the rest of us. The law is the law and must be followed.
What can you do? Illegals do NOT have any rights. LEGAL immigrants and U.S. Citizens have rights.
I'm sorry to hear about this situation. Sounds like he totally deserved the scholarship!
Perhaps he can make an appeal to not only the school, but the US immigration. Maybe they'll let him come to school as an international student?
I have one better I personally know a young man who went to school here Got married here ,had a kid, used the info he was given at the age of maturity got a job ,bought a house found out the info was forged by the people who brought him here as an infant and was deported for ten years so for ten years he'll not see his only home he's ever known.
I say get that education u illegal resident! Who cares, he-she earned a chance at that school and got in. Saying-no is unfair.
I think they'd had better do what their parents failed to do for them - get legal. It's not the states responsibility to get them legal or give them a pass. It's their parents. And if they can't become legal, they must still be deported.
I stand by the Supreme Court's decision to deport a guy for being here 25 years illegally even though he had a family here. I expect more of the same no matter who it is.
That not our respond ,ask vicente to pay him . stop cathering all this scums leeches, u can give money from ur pocket..how u like it ? I dont think so.u just bleeding heart liberal
I think that we have a ton of our own citizens who can't go to our own colleges due to lack of scholarships who should come first, particularly since it sounds like we were paying for that person's education ever since they were a small child.
It isn't as if college seats and scholarships are wasted with no one to fill them if illegals don't use them.
Why on earth should someone here illegally come before people legally here?
I am very much against in state tuition for illegals as well, and any kind of grants. Those are subsidies our own people need. It isn't as if even all American children who are qualified can go to college. Those subsidies form a big part of why illegals come here, and as much as employment opportunities, I think those magnets need to be dismantled.
I think they're screwed, and you have our politicians to thank/blame for that, because they've tap-danced around the issue of immigration enforcement for so long that NOW, no matter when you try to get serious about it, you're gonna step on somebody. Yet, it still needs to get done. Americans have been tolerant of this for long enough, it's time to get the border fence built. Our k-12 system needs to tie off its' bleeding heart, too, US schools for US kids, or at least those that are in our country LEGALLY.(My bad). We can't afford to 'sit on the fence' on this one anymore...literally can't afford it...
If he was here illegally he was breaking the law. It doesn't matter how many years he has been breaking the law because he was still breaking it. And as such he does NOT deserve what is for those who are legally here
DEPORT ILLEGAL ALIENS
ENGLISH ONLY IN AMERICA
I think that the parents that are bringing their children here illegally are doing them a huge injustice. Nobody is to blame but the parents. Send him back to the country he came from, lets give that scholarship to an American and hope that young man learned a lesson to teach his children. What ever you do, do it legally, there are always consequences when you break the law.
That is a bad situation that his parents put him in.
this guy is not being denied a college education... he can go to college in a country where he is legal. there are plenty of high school students here in the united states that need higher education. did you ever consider the legal high school students that were denied the scholarship to a top university because of the illegal? there are reasons why we have citizenships & being in countries legally. this is one of them... too bad for the student; he should blame his parents or whoever brought him here
Sorry about his situation, but I think you're missing the point here. Illegal!! It doesn't matter if some of them are the smarter ones they should not be here in the first place. Wanting to do something about the immigration laws? They broke the law, their family broke the law. Do you know what crossing the boarder without papers is considered? A Federal Offense! But Bush and the stupid politicians aren't doing a thing about it. I'm sorry they don't have papers, I'm also sorry that the country they left is probably horrible and I wouldn't want to live there, but you know what, you STILL have to obey the laws. Kids that want to do something better, it's sad but the fact remains that they are a small minority. Illegals should be treated like illegals. Arrested and deported. I'm an immigrant, don't tell me that it's impossible to get here the correct way. I have no sympathy for those who came here illegally, takes advantage of all those tax dollars, and try to get away with it. A scholarship? You're telling me that he got an education for free with our tax dollars, and was given a scholarship? Tell me, how is that far for American children? Where are their opportunities?
You can't think about how he was denied and can't go on to get higher education...what you should be thinking about is that he shouldn't have been here in the first place! They don't need a chance, they need to go back and try to come in legally. What are WE teaching our kids? That you can go anywhere with opportunity and try to exploit it? If a homeless man BROKE into your house, would you think "oh he just needs a chance" and let him stay? No, you'd call the cops as fast as you can and you would help put that man in jail for breaking and entering, traspassing, burglary...heck that's three strikes right there! And you think these kids need a chance??
You need to starting thinking with your priorities straight. We have borders for a reason...we have laws for a reason...
(in response to the Wild Indian retard)
Don't bring up that crap about the founding fathers. With change in time requires a change in ideals. What you want is Utopia, open to everyone? That's going to result in a mass influx of people coming in with more UNEDUCATED than educated! How are you going to have those people help you compete with China? How is a peasant mexican, who didn't even have 3rd grade education come in and contribute to us? The RARE educated and smart ones aren't worth opening up our boarders because the founding fathers said this country was free and open to everyone! Current situation in California...how are those 3 million Illegal mexicans contributing to our society? By HELPING us close dozens of hosiptals because they don't have the money or the insurance to pay? The numbers that contribute aren't even a fraction of those that don't. This isn't about being "ultra-conservative", this is about not being stupid.
kick them out they are thieves nothing more thats my tax money hes stealing
idiotic ultra-conservative rednecks. You don't seem to get it. When this country was concieved, the founding fathers said that this country was open to all people, rich or poor as long as they contributed to our society. But illegals don't have the money to get a US Green Card. And they never can because they will never earn enough money in the Mexican economy. So they have to cross illegaly. But the founding fathers declared them innocent. So therefore, they are innocent. Don't try to make the argument that this man wouldn't have made a contribution to society. He was going to a top university. Obviously, he was a bright guy. America needs these people to keep up with china. Deporting them hurts our cause. Sure, the illegals broke the law. But it was for a better life. Rosa Parks broke the law and so did Martin Luther King.
go back to mexico and then come legally
send him back home
I think they need to go through a legal process of residency like everyone else. Ask Mexico or other Latin American nations for a free college education!
His parents shouldn't have kept the truth him for starters. But now that he knows, he should get in line, enter the country legally and then pursue his education. It is unfair to give an illegal alien a spot in college while bumping out a citizen of this country.
It is funny you should say that, many places in Texas deny children preschool unless you are illegal, speak spanish in the home, and/or make less than 20 grand a year. This is public school tax payers pay for. What's ironic? My husband is hispanic and we have mixed race children. His parents chose not to speak spanish in the home as legal immigrants, they chose to Americanize. Our children speak English in the home, even though both my husband and I are 1st generation Americans. Are those who assimilate to be punished now? OPEN YOUR EYES AND ACT LIKE AN AMERICAN!
that is horrible, I know he wishes he can go to school like the rest of his classmates. If he's been living here all his life, he's not american by birth but he's 100% american by culture.
Thats cool!
We should not have educated him in the first place. WE (legal citizens/ tax payers) paid for his education and he didnt. Illegal people's dont pay taxes.
Out he goes!
Oh, and by the way, he CAN do somthing about it. He can get in line with thousands of other people who are filling out paperwork to get into this country the CORRECT way.
