Which college should I choose?
Question:
Currently I live in Hawaii, and it's okay...but I would like to go away to the Mainland, so I can experience new things and not be stuck here surrounded by ocean anymore.
So Washington State seemed ideal for me, especially when I got a scholarship for $8,000 per year. The only catch is since I get resident tuition for Manoa, then it is still $7,000 cheaper. So...I want to ask the advice of some third party outsiders who have no emotional attachment to my decision at all. Where would you choose?
Answer:
I think you should stick with Washington state university. Experience on the mainland can be good! It will help you get ready for the ever growing world! You can find new jobs, visit new attractions, and live like you never had before on the island! You can always go back to Hawaii after anyways :)
Price shouldn't be such a large factor on something as important as this. The world is yours :) haha
Notre Dame
I would choose the cheapest place. School bills are killer!
I'd always recommend the University of Florida. Best all around academics for public school and best education for the dollar! But realistically, go to Hawaii and save the dough. People on the mainland want to go to Hawaii and people from Hawaii want to come here. This is a crazy world we live in.
It's clear you want some freedom - Washington State is an excellent University. Consider starting there, and if the island becons you back, you can always finish at UofH.
You shouldn't rely on outside perspectives alone since you're going to be the one living with the decision. I would choose Washington State, because college is a great time to try new things. If you don't like it you only have to stay there for a couple years, or you can transfer. You can always go back to hawaii, but the oppurtunity to leave may not always be available. As to the financial issue, unless it presents your parents, or yourself, with a huge burden compared with Hawaii it shouldn't be the main factor. It's still important, but from your question it sounds like you have the financial capacity to attend either or the decision would have already been made. Good luck.
Johns Hopkins University. Washington State or University of Hi? What are you retarded?
Thanks
People are constantly trying to go to Hawaii and you want to leave, but if you must why not aply at other schools that may be more affordable. You can try CSU here in Colorado, or try a school in California if you don't want to drastic of a change in your climate. It gets cold in Washington and Colorado. You can save by going to a JC first for the preliminary stuff and once you decide what career path you want then the school may be easier to choose. Remember although school is not costing you anything your parents are paying hard earned money for it, so if staying home can save them money, then stay and then take a nice trip to the Big Island (mainland) with the money you save. I hope this helps
I had a dilemma similar to this--I had to choose between going to UCLA and Lehigh University. I live in California, so UCLA, in Los Angeles, would be a lot closer to home than Lehigh, in Pennsylvania. I got a big fat scholarship to Lehigh, so it was only a tad more expensive than UCLA. In the end, I chose UCLA, and have never regretted that decision. I would have probably gone to Lehigh if I visited the campus. Since I didn't, going to Lehigh would have been more of a risk just in case I didn't like it. Make sure you shell out the extra cash to visit Wazzou before making your final decision. Then pick the school that is the better fit. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll have a great time wherever you go.
