I have a choice of two nursing programs - Boston College vs Gettysburg College (PA). Which is better? Why?
Question:
Answer:
You know, nurses are in very high demand and I am not certain that where you go to college actually makes a difference in hiring. I'd recommend that you call a couple of hospitals and ask their advice - whether a school with a better reputation actually makes a difference in either hiring or in long term advancement.
I have a sneaking suspicion that you won't gain a thing by paying more.
Also, don't be afraid to go to BC and say that you are getting $13K from GC, you'd love to go to BC but they just aren't competitive. You might be pleasantly surprised.
Hey. I visted BC recently. It is a beautiful campus- great architecture, nice landscaping, etc. The school has a very religious feel to it however, so you have to make sure that's your thing. Both colleges have good reps, although BC's rep is better. Honestly, the nursing profession is experiencing such a shortage that you'll find work if you go to either school. I've never visited Gettysburg so I can't help you there. You should really try to visit the schools if you can.
BC= a really smart, talented study body, big student involvement, beautiful campus, pretty cold climate, religious
