Conservatives don't have a problem with this. Many of us are veterans of either the military or law enforcement or the National Guard, and we know this is horse pouckey.
Liberals will NEVER stop lying and degrading and spitting on and belittling service members. That's who they are.
Interestingly, the average military service member has HIGHER education than the average US citizen. This is mostly because you have to have a BA to be an officer, and many have graduate degrees, and it's also because the enlisted ranks have promotion incentives to complete degrees, and most high ranking enlisted have BAs or higher.
The real reason liberals want to make the military out to be nothing but a bunch of losers is because patriotism is a concept they don't relate to. They can't understand the dream of a young person to defend their country, fight fires, be a policeman, etc. These kinds of aspirations don't occur to liberals. They are too busy hating everyone around them.

I agree with you, I enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 69, not because I came from a humble background, but because my country was in a war. I now have a degree and am semi retired.
Yes, it is an insult to the 2 well-educated members of my family who are in in the military. They are NOT are not"dirt poor", not stupid with no other options. They are honorable people...much more honorable than the answerer you quote! Much more.
Those people are liberals who obviously don't have a clue what they are talking about. i have viewed a few of their questions and answers and all they can do is spew hate for their country and hate for the republicans doing what they can to defend our freedom.
I support our military, and one's choice to join- but I would like to point out that if your buddies joined AFTER college, then they would automatically be officers- correct?
I am going out on the ledge by suggesting that those who start in the infantry right from high school have not had the same life circumstances and advantages as your buddies, and that the military may answer some people's financial, lower economic woes; possibly out of desperation.
