College Degree difficulties?
Question:
I am a Junior in college and will graduate next spring with a BA in Arts, Minor in Art History, Concentration in Printmaking.
I was considering Art Administration as a career (museum work).
However, after studyin abroad, I discovered a poassion- International Relations. Specifically TESOL/TEFL. I like helping people - I volunteered while abroad, and I felt rewarded with this experience. I enjoyed what I was doing.
My dilema at the moment:
Should I graduate with a BA in Art only?
Or consider adding on a second degree in International studies (rather than returning to this)? It can be done, but I might add on one or two quarters, of course, I doubt would be covered by scholarships. :(
Or, take courses in the summer, pay extra still, and graduate on time.
Should I just continue to Grad school?
Any other suggestions?
Answer:
I would take courses in the summer, pay extra still, and graduate on time and then continue on to Grad school. If international studies is your passion then go for it. It is a rare thing for a person to actually find their passion while in college. Don't neglect it.
Graduate as soon as possible. I would take some extra classes in international relations. It doesn't really matter what you get your BA or BS if you go on to grad school, as long as you show motivation towards your desired grad degree. You should see if you can find an internship in international relations this summer, or take a ton of courses.
