Is college a lot harder then high school if you pay attention in class and study should you good in college?
Question:
Answer:
I did not think college was much harder than high school at all.
It really depends on which college you go to. Bigger and pricier schools are a lot harder. The biggest change between high school and college is the amount of reading you are supposed to do. Make sure you have good time management skills. Keep a schedule of when you plan to study and actually follow through.
I guess it depends what major you chose. Science, engineering, and math are usually a lot more challenging (and have higher failure rates or people who change their majors for the same reason). Artsy majors (like English, Psychology, and Sociology) are a lot less challenging and competitive. It also depends what kind of student you are-if you are dedicated and apply yourself, then it shouldn't be that hard no matter what major you choose. I graduated ninth in my class (high school) and am majoring in a science and I definitely think it's more challenging-not necessarily harder. There's just a lot more expected of you (as a person and a student). Basically, you achieve adult-like status.
First, become involved in something. The sooner you are acclamated to your new environment, then, the sooner you will be able to concentrate on academics. Second, get to know your professors and your academic advisor! On average, if you never miss class, sit up front, take notes and do your homework, you are almost guaranteed all "B's" in college. Sitting in the front forces you to be involved. Also, students with your same interests (succeeding in college) will be up front with you. Plus, you have a ready made study group! Further, all of these items let your professor know that you are there to learn.
Also, if you are interested in a professional degree (pre-law, pre-med, architecture, pre-accounting, pre-pharmacy, etc.) you must realize that these degree plans will be more difficult than average. Don't be afraid! Good Luck.
