How can I pay for college without federal help?

I have no money. My parents will not be helping me at all. They won't even give me a copy of their tax forms. Since I can't turn in their tax forms, I am not eligible for any federal aid at all. I have to be considered a dependent student since I technically still have parents. If they've decided not to give me the copies there's nothing that I can do. I am going to be a teacher but the state's teaching fellows program is only for high school seniors. I'm already in college. What should I do? What are some alternate resources since I'm not eligible for federal grants or loans?

Why won't your parents help out, and why won't they give you their tax information. Which bug crawled up their butts? I'm assuming they wouldn't be will to co-sign a loan for you either. And you probably don't have that much of credit history. Your only chance is to get your parents to lighten up. Otherwise, There is noooo way you can afford college in your situation. If all else fails, get a full time job, and try to save up for a few years.

Here's another idea, change your dependancy status, this will sound funky and might take some time. You can either wait til you are 24, then you will be independant. If you get married, I dont' know how you feel about that, but if you are married then you are considered independant. You could join the armed services, that would make you independant, or you could get yourself a dependant, usually means having kids. This is in the extreme of ideas, but if you could pull one of them off, they would only consider your income for financial aid. lol. Otherwise, you've ran out of options, I hope this helps, sorry I cannot be of further assistance.

You can try to appeal your dependent status with your school's financial aid office. If you can provide proof that you have not been financially dependent on your parents, they can change your status to independent and you can apply for financial aid without their tax forms.

Other than that, try to get some scholarships and/or a job.

Point out to your parents that most students who apply for financial aid get more money than what tuitions/books cost, so that would be less you needed from them. If that doesn't help tell them your only other options are dropping out or having a kid. It might not hurt to tell them that by becoming a teacher you can get almost all of your loans forgiven without having to pay them back.

Student loan, or work study. Also tutoring.
