I'll be 20 in a few months. I want to attend a community college for two years to raise my GPA.?
Question:
I was a non-traditional student. I was married and in my mid twenties when I started school, yes it is possible. The most difficult thing would be trying to pay for everything without loans. I worked full time and still had trouble paying without loans. I did, however, find out that off-campus apartment is cheaper than living in a dorm. You might look for scholarships and grants to help pay.
Yes. Please go to college and get the most from your education for if the world stands for another 100 years You will earn 2 or 3 times those without a college degree.
The old adage: "He who hesitates, is lost" is very true in most every situation.
I would recommend that you try to live on campus because you will have much more support from fellow students and social activities that will build friendships that will last a life time. I worked for a grocery store part time and for the Dean of Men as a "Dorm Dad" to get my dorm room rent paid.
There are grant programs and student loans that will make it possible for anyone with good grades to attend college. I would advise that your go to the college where you would like to attend and ask for applications for grants and loans. The longer you wait after graduation from high school the LESS likely we are to actually go on and get a college degree. You loose the study habits and endurance to sit through classes each day.
May God Bless and Keep You is my Prayer,
David
A community College is a great idea to attend for 2 years and then a university for the last 2 years! I did this and I found that it helped me to get adjusted to college work as well as increase my GPA - But if you want to transfer to the 4 year school in 2 years you have to take the right amount of credit hours each semester to equal to 30 each year. It also helps if you know what school you're going to transfer to and what you plan to major in. I would suggest taking a look at the University degree requirements and compare it to the course that the community college offers. I hope this helps . . . I went this route and graduated in 4 years :) - Stay Focused
