We need money for college. I've got no savings and horrible credit. My daughter recvd grants and scholarships.
Question:
Answer:
Has your daghter applied for a grant, on her own?
grants and scholarships are a really good way to pay some of it off but did you try applying for financial aid? with a low income, they can provide a lot of help.
Fill out a FAFSA. Ask her high school counselor about it. That's what you need to do to find out loan and grant options.
You could try the national gaurd. They pay for your entire collage.i can give you info on it if you want.
Get a 2nd job or see if she can work at school. Let the school know what's going on and see if they can help you.
Apply for the parents plus loan...if you're denied, usually the college will give you more..talk to you financial aid office.
ohgeez, thats awful. did u try and have yur credit ran to make sure you werent accepted. thats awful. dont give up. there are other ways. most colleges have a deferred payment plan. i would look into that. I cant believe no relatives are willing to co-sign, not even a friend of the family. thats awful. i hope you can figure this out.
look for more scholarships... ask the school for apayment plan.. finanacial aid...
other than that pray. i wish you the best... if she has never had a credit card have her apply for the school loan at a differnt bank... some dont need a co signer...
Talk to the financial aid department of the college and find out if you can make a payment plan or if they can help her find on-campus part time employment. Can any of the grandparents help out a bit?
have you gone to:
http://www.dlssonline.com/
its federal direct loans.
i just took one out. they offer loans to students that they dont have to pay on till they finish school and no interest till then.
also parents can get a loan from there. go to the school also. they can come up with crazy scholarships ect.
I don't suggest the parents plus loan because the parents have to pay back the money...which can ruin their credit if they don't...I suggest the Student-freindly loans like.Stanford loans, Perkin loans etc., which have low interest rates...
Also ask if they are subsidized..meaning your interest will be paid by government while your child is in college and 6 months after the graduation the interest will start, giving time to gather some money. Ask if the interest rate is fixed so it does not increase.

you need to go to the financial aid office at the school she can take out subsidized and unsubsidized loans through the government. She will not need a cosigner she will need to complete the master promissory note at the school to receive but that's about it. Call the FA office at the university tomorrow!
