Question:
this is about a french course which i started back in september. i decided to quite the course in december cos i didn't like it. i paid up all fee's in december but wasn't happy doing so, cos i knew i wouldn't be continueing the course. so i went to al &l in jan and explained matters and they agreed to give me a refund. this was back in january, still haven't received any money. i have asked about 10 times what's happening with my cheque and they said the council should be sending you one. i've phoned the somerset council four times and they've said they know nothing about me being owed a cheque. so it's not been recorded. i've been back to al &l and asked to see the trial balance and audit trail so that can see if my fee's have been recorded and they just refuse to show me them. somerset county council has said that al &l must re pay me my fee's. it's not usually were local colleges pay back students after they've done more than one session, they also over charged me by £100
Answer:
You'll have reasoned already that the smart thing to do is not to hand over money for anything you're not sure about, especially if you haven't had it yet. Somewhere there will be a list of terms and conditions.. Details about refund of fees should be covered in that. I should ask for a copy, and if you are still not satisfied ask for an appointment to discuss the matter with the principal of the college, take along any written information you have about the cost of the course, and receipts for your payment. You can sue the college if you wish, but you need evidence.
