Is anyone going straight to the University of their choice instead of to community college?

Question:
I was just curious if anyone else made the same decision. I didn't want to get my basics at the county college just because it was cheaper. To me, my education is worth it. And I am paying for it by myself.

Answer:
You're making the right choice. You'll end up with a MUCH more well rounded education at a university.

Props to you for paying for it on your own, too. Best of luck.
I am too. I plan on getting in to one of the private universities. Good for you!
My daughter is going straight to a major university. Community Colleges are fine, but not for everyone, just like four-year universities aren't for everyone.
i did. many schools make it nearly impossible to transfer credits, essentially making their students retake many of the courses they already went through. i think it's a better idea, and it's easier when you go to apply for graduate school as well, because of only needing one transcript as opposed to two. (this becomes a huge pain, even though it doesn't sound like it).
i went straight to the university.
advantages:
1) dorming is more fun & u meet a lot of people ur age (+/- 1 year) and start making ur group of friends early. for example, there was this community college transfer girl and she was at least 2 years older than everyone else...she didn't seem to mingle in as well and eventually moved out to an apartment.
2) u start understanding the system early on, so u can reduce ur chance of graduating in 5 years. a lot of transfers i know graduated in 5 years, because even if some of their classes satisfied the universities general education requirements, they were not always accepted and sometimes it takes 3 years to complete a major...partly because there r no easy general education classes left to dilute out the difficult of the upper division classes and also some classes are not offered at certain times in the year, etc. also they seem to kinda start over once they're in an university, trying to learn the system, adjust to the demands of the classes, which professor is good, and other little stuff...so they sorta waste the first year at the university. don't waste too much of ur time earning ur backelor's...graduate in 4 years and move on! backelor's aren't worth that much anymore, it's the next step that counts and the sooner u get there the better.
also...so they may not even save money or they may save just a little money (if it takes 5 years= 2 community + 3 university).
3) also u increase ur chances of meeting exceptional people...(i.e. the more interesting/reputable professors would be at the university), so u can start establishing connections sooner...start researching with a professor sooner.
4) u will be missing out on at least 1 year of experiences that the university offers...whatever that may be (clubs, special events, etc)
I went straight to the university and I'm glad. I should probably mention that the tuition happened to be relatively inexpensive anyway.
