Benifits of rotc?

Question:
I am going to be a junior in high school this year and I was wondering if anyone out there has any solid information regarding the benefits of participating in jrotc in high school in regards to obtaining a ROTC scholarship in college. My goal is receive a scholarship from and take Air Force ROTC in college and then enter the Air Force after college as an officer. However I do not much enjoy the ROTC class offered at my high school because the class is extremely easy and the majority of my classmates are "burnouts" who are taking the class because of its ease. Will my taking of this class in high school significantly increase my chances of obtaining such a scholarship? What are some basic guidelines that they look for in their distribution of scholarships? Also I am baseball player who would like to continue my career in college but I do not know if I have the talent to play at a D-1 level. Do they have ROTC programs at D-2 and lower schools?

Answer:
It looks very good on your application to the acadamy. As far as the class being full of loosers, that gives you an advantage to move up in the ranks of this class. The class can also give you background about the military, and if you don't make it into the acadamy, all the branches of the military will give you credit for the class, and you will recieve a promotion for it.
Better training, and the advancement of becoming an Officer upon graduation. Field promotions are only available in war time, due to death, and waiting for regular promotion from the ranks may take years, so ROTC is your fast track to becoming an Officer.

Its good for you especially if you see the others as burnouts. They "will be burnouts" and you will go far. You can play baseball.
