Could Mauer have made it in the NFL?

Question:
Same Q, different time: Joe Mauer Bio: During his senior season as QB, Mauer completed 178 of 288 passes for 3,022 yards and 41 touchdowns, finishing his 2-year career as a starter with 5,528 yards and 73 touchdowns. He led his team to two consecutive Class 5A state championship game appearances, winning the title in 2000, and once threw 7 touchdown passes in a single playoff game. He was named Gatorade's National Player of the Year, Parade and USA Today Player of the Year, Reebok/ESPN High School All-American, and "National High School Quarterback Of The Year" in 2000 by The National Quarterback Club (alongside other names like Vince Young and Chris Simms: http://www.nqbc.com/history.html... )... but he turned down a full-ride football scholarship to Florida State to enter the MLB draft. My brother says he made the wrong choice choosing to go into MLB; so would he have been better off in the NFL? Was he even good enough? Thanks for your opinions.

Answer:

I think Joe Maurer would have been an awesome college qb. I'm glad he went to baseball though, because he was going to go to Florida State and I can't stand FSU. Whether or not he would have made it to the NFL, who knows... the odds are long even for the most highly touted High School Players... see Brock Berlin
yes
