Try another trade, such as printing. My husband is a union printer for over 23 years now and he makes over $100k per year. He doesn't have a college degree but works very very hard. He started as a "floor boy" cleaning up the presses and sweeping floors at a large print shop in Wheeling. Over the years, he moved up and up and is now a 1st pressman. No experience necessary to get your foot in the door, just a good work ethic and willingness to work 8-12 hour days and 7 days a week when needed. There are a few large printers in the Chicago area. Good luck!
I really love what I do. It was a huge career change for me, but since the company has their own online training, having no prior experience in the field did not keep me from being successful very quickly and no college is required. You do earn as you train. It is in the medical field, and I work from home, mostly computer work. Many people at my company are making 6 figures after 2 to 4 years. It is actually a very rewarding, as well as profitable, career as I get to help people every day as well. I would be happy to give you more details if it is something you may be interested in.
