Answer:
I felt like you did when I first went to college many years ago. I did poorly my first two semesters. My Uncle then gave me some good advice that worked for me. He told me that I had to think of college as my primary full-time job. Depending upon the schedule of your college courses, you may have classes that are spread apart by time. Any long breaks between classes, you should be studying. Your class schedule may have you going to class only three days a week, the other two days, you should study at least eight hours each. If you spend 20 hours in-class each week, you should study another 20 hours even if your homework doesn't take you that long.

Good luck
All I can say is that you would appreciate it more and you would do better in college if you had to pay for it yourself. I have student loans and when I was in college I did so much better than fellow students because I knew I would be the one to suffer if I didn't do well, while they were depending on mommy and daddy.
I have faith in you. You can do it. However you must be determined and and steady. The most important thing is to seek the Lord Jesus Christ and he will help you through any thing.
well,
I'm French and things are a little different here...but still my parents pay for my studies.
I didn't really work at school...manly because i didn't need it (and pity those who need!)
that's my second year at uni...i study what i wanted to and what i like so everything's ok. Sometimes, i don't feel like working and i guess it's the same for everyone...
Well, i think that as long as you study what you want to study, you can work without feeling it as such.
I don't think you should feel guilty or something like that about your parents' paying. It's normal to pay for the studies of children if you have the financial capacity to do so.
Anyhow, i wish you good luck!
If you are starting college in the fall, it would be a good idea to get a job over the summer. And don't just go get a job at a movie theater or a fast food restaurant. Yes, those are real jobs, but I suggest you get a job as a construction helper or some other job that requires you to work long hard hours in the heat. Or perhaps even get a job at a truck loading terminal. Then once you have this type of job be sure to be punctual. Don't miss days. Then in the evenings when you get off of work as late as it is think about and research some future career options. Do you want to do manual labor for minimum pay for the rest fo your life? Would you prefer a job with a medium or better salary? Would you like to work a job where other benefits are possible? If you still cannot decide then maybe a regular four year college is not the place for you at this time. There is no shame in that. Perhaps try a trade school. If you don't think trade school is right for you because it still hints at manual labor, then maybe you would be better served starting at a small community college. Take general college level classes that every major requires. Devote as much time studying for these courses as you put in actually in class time. Remember you have to attend school till you are a certain age, but college is not mandatory for anyone. If you are in college goofing off in a major that doesn't mean when you get out you will be successful. There is someone sitting in those classes with you that is there because they have made a choice for their future. And when they graduate they will be better prepared for a career. Now you have to choose. You don't have to choose a prestigious four year university. You don't have to choose college at all. But make a choice and work hard. Have confidence in your own abilities. Don't use your parents ability to pay for something you don't want as a crutch. And don't go to college just because you think that if you attend classes they will buy you a car. If you want a car get a job, earn a paycheck and buy a car. Pay for your own insurance. Pay for your own health care needs. (Because see colleges students can remain on their parents health care plans up until their mid twenties) When you have to start paying for the thigns that your parents have to pay for in addition to tuition it might make you wake up and want to make a choice to do better for yourself. I mean do you plan to live with your parents forever? If not, will you want a nice apartment or house? Will you need to eat? Will you need transportation? Will you need clothes? Will you date? These are things that real working adults have jobs for that most in this day and age were educated for past high school. Have you ever worked? Do you have hobbies? What do you enjoy doing?
