Better to find a subleaser for college apartment over the summer or just pay rent?
Question:
Answer:
Knowing how people treat sublets- I would suggest you just pay the rent - unless you can find a SUITABLE summer student (ie a teacher who is coming back to get credits for certification and you know them). I have heard horror stories about sublets. One person had her furniture sold by the renter.
First, you need to check your lease to see if they even allow you to sub-lease it. Second, unless it was someone you know very well, with all the information about their income and bank accounts, so that when you come back, and they have trashed the apartment, along with ALL of your stuff, when you sue them, you will have a way to collect all the money for the damages.
Get the hint?
interview, pick very good questions and even if its painful spend as much time with the person you got to trust them with your **** cuz cmon who wants to pay storage
Personally I would just pay rent. Remember, you will be left holding the bag if the sub-leaser causes major damage or simply doesn't pay the rent. It is highly likely that the potential expense and headache that may be caused by a sub-leaser will cost more that the couple of months rent.
