Going back to college?
Question:
Answer:
It is alway worth it to go back to school to better yourself even if you just take one class a time. The goal is to graduate and complete your goal. By virtue of you asking this question, I can tell you are willing to sacrifice and push foward on completing this goal.
Many schools have face to face classes as well as online classes. Maybe you can take one online class and then one face to face class on a week night or on Saturday.
You can do it. You can make this work for you. You do not want to overwhelm yourself either. Take it slow and take one or two courses at a time and then maybe in the summer take three.
Also there are scholarship programs available for your situation. Contact the counseling and or financial aid office at the school you wish to complete your degree, explain your situation, and see if they can assist you in locating scholarships.
Also apply for Financial Aid through www.fafasa.ed.gov. YOu can be able to qualitify for grants including the Pell grant to go to school and you dont have to pay it back.
Good luck in your efforts in pursuing your goals.
In a few years I want to see a question asking about obtaining a masters degree.
Yes, take what you can. Some semesters, you may be able to do more. You might be able to cut the ten years to five, but you can't if you don't start.
BTW, I went to college, worked a full-time job, and took a full 15 hour course load. Not easy, but it can be done.
its worth it. or see if there is some way to .. i dunno work in bfe and get a stipend working for a university and getting this done within 4-5 years.
Absolutely do it. If you think it would take 10 years to get your degree at 1 course a term, think about how long it would take to get your degree if you take ZERO courses a term.
Start with one course, then try to take 2 courses once in a while. Eventually you will get your degree.
When you take 2 or more courses, maybe balance a really hard course with an easier course.
Also check with your employer. Some of them help you get your degree by paying for tuition, being flexible with hours, etc.
Plus, some schools actually have programs for folks just like you. Flexible class times, earn credit for life experience, even some scholarships for part-time students who work. Ask around at local schools about this.
Good luck! You can do it if you really focus.
