I need immediate scholarship help!?

Question:
I am 22 yrs old and planning on going back to college, I need help finding scholarships, I am a minority, education major, independent, 1 parent incarecerated can anyone help me?

Answer:
Sure, you can check http://www.scholarships.com/ or http://www.findtuition.com/ and check for results, however scholarships are tough to come by unless they have been academically awarded. What you can do is use college loans and then teach in a high needs area. If you do that, the government pays back your student loans. Also if you teach in an area where they require teachers, such as forgein language, then they also pay off your loans. It is getting a scholarship after you graduate, I believe they either pay off the loan or make your loan payment tax deductable so either way you get the money back. Sorry I cannot give more information, I went through that process as a teacher but none of it applied to me. Make sure you check your state's dept of education website and check which areas are "high needs." You can also call them and inquire, but you will probably be on hold for awhile, however, it is worth it for getting your school paid for. Lastly, there are programs, such as Teach For America, that if you go and teach for them for (I think) one year, then they will pay back that year and give you a small stipend. All those options are worth a shot and have been successful for people.
If you live in Arizona or Ohio, there are state universities that will provide you with free tuition if your income is low.

If you are an Arizona resident who meets admission standards, and your family income is under $18,850, you qualify for free tuition at Arizona State.

If you are an Ohio resident who meets admission standards, and your family income is below $35,000, you qualify for free tuition at Miami University of Ohio.

Harvard also does this for students with family incomes under $60,000, but needless to say, it is a bit harder to meet admission requirements there.
