I have been interested going into the military...?
Question:
Answer:
Don't join just for college money.
You have several options.
You can join the reserves now and make extra money while going to school, and get a bonus plus tuition assistance to pay off your classes, but keep in mind you have to serve 6 years in the reserves, and it can be hard to go to OCS while in the reserves.
You can go to Platoon Leaders Class(PLC) with the Marine Corps over the summer, which is the same as OCS. You will make about $3,000 dollars all together doing this, and you DO NOT have to join if you don't want to, but you will have an offer to join as a 2nd Lieutenant after you graduate. And if you choose to join you can receive a monthly payment while in school, but if you receive that money you have to join or pay them back.
Be careful though, recruiters will say anything to get you into the military. Best to check from a possible family member of friend who has been in the military first...
I would talk to a recruiter, but the military used to have a Boot Strap program where they paid you to finish your education in return for so many years of service. I have a friend who joined as a high school drop out airman and retired as a full bird.
Does your school have ROTC? You can still join after your Sophomore year. They offer a full scholarship plus living allowance. Plus you are guaranteed a commission with that, not so with just a bachelor's degree.
Student Loans. There is no way you have exceeded your cap on those. Apply for one or several. The army will pay back all student loans instead of giving you the GI Bill.
They all have ROTC; the Army has ROTC, the Navy and Marines have NROTC, and the Air Force as AFROTC.
