Question:
I'm a white brazilian imigrant maried to a white caucasian husband. I'm in doubt of in what category my children fall in for college aplications, once I dont consider myself hispanic. Is there any advantage of not marking white caucasian for better chances of getting more scholarships or easier ecceptancy in colleges?
Answer:
Brazilian is not a race--it's a nationality. If you are white, your husband is white, how can your son be anything but white?
Hispanic is a made-up term for those who speak Spanish--you speak Portuguese; therefore, your son is not Hispanic.
I think they just ask this question to keep stats to prove equal admission policies. I think it is illegal for checking white to gain any favorable treatment.
There is only one race--the human race. --Baha'u'llah, Prophet-Founder of the Baha'i Faith.
Check "Human".
