I'm currently enrolled in the madisonville community college, and the physical therapy assistant program is very competitive. i'm not sure if it is like this everywhere, but here, they go by points. the preferred is 63-100 point range. you get so many points for your GPA, ACT, A&P 1 &2(GPA).then you get extra points for taking a medical terminology class, physics class, and participating in a 16hrs of work @ a hospital for PTA. I"m doing pretty good right now. I'm taking A&P1 and developmental psychology. next semester i'll be taking A&P2, then i can apply to the program in oct. they only accept 16 people. last year, my advisor told me that they had 200 people apply. what if i'm in that group that dont' get selected, then what. do i wait until next year? or do i find a college that will accept me no matter what. i love working with people. i have been a certified nursing assistant for almost 11 years. i'm 28, and it has taken me this long to find what i want, and i really want this.
Go to the career center at MCC and check about the other colleges in KY that offer it.
