After uninstalling McAfee...which form of main protection should I get to replace it with?

Question:
I asked this on a forum, and got the following list:

Kaspersky Firewall
Kaspersky Anti-Virus
ZoneAlarm Free Edition

The following forms of security I have currently:

The Crappy Windows Firewall
Search and Destroy
AdAware
Spyware Blaster
AVG Free Edition
McAfee Site Advisor [this rocks, I must admit]

I also have Hijack This, but that's more of a manual program. Which of those, or any other ones, should I get for my mainstream firewall?

Answer:
Avast Antivirus
Norton Anti Virus. Many businesses use this program as their main anti-virus program. It is big - for a reason - it is powerful. I never had one virus since I have been using it since thay came out with version 1.0.

Like the best car, you are going to get a gaggle of choices for the best security program.

This site has a comprehensive list of the best programs for Windows that you can use to best protect your PC. And they are free!

if you are looking for some freeware go for AVG or AVAST antivirus programs. but personally i feel Pc-cillin internet security is good. it has a good firewall which blocks all malicious websites and does a good job with virus also
You should get:
zonelab zonealarm, avg, windows defender beta, spybot these are all good and free I have these since my mcafee expired.
Go with the Kaspersky for an A-V, excellent detection rates and light on resource use.
A recent virus test is here:

Notice just how poor AVG is! Don't know why it has so many fans?

KAVs little brother, Active Virus Shield by AOL, made by KAV, has the exact same detection rates, without the "bells and whistles" and it's free.

For a good firewall, check out Jetico PF, it's a bit difficult to learn, but it passes most leak-tests. Very light on the resources. Free at:

Here is a free complete Security Suite from AOL. This is getting very good reviews on several forum I go to.

hi, perhaps you can try Norton to remove the virus and protect your PC. but you need to pay for the software

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:
