Is it the next step in evolution or simply a pipe dream?

It is an absolutely necessary next step in our evolution. That would solve so much. The idea that somehow we are seperate from one another on this planet is asinine. We live in a fish bowl, The idea of us and them must be done away with.
I'd say a pipe dream. People love to separate things into "us" and "them".
you mean one world government? it's probably too much to swallow at this point. maybe someday in the future humanity will be eased into this idea. but for now, i doubt it. however, it has already started with multi-nation economic regions in europe and asia, so who knows?
I can think of no greater nightmare for America--the greatest nation in the history of the world--than for her to trash her precious national sovereignty that has been fought for by so many into a socialist one-world government. And what if it's a totally democratic government you ask? Well then you're got representation based upon population. Do we want the Chinese to have more say on the future of our homeland than Americans do? How about a bunch of backward Africans still too stupid to move beyond the tribal phase?
We are the most powerful nation on Earth. National power that belongs to US!
We are blessed with a bounty of natural resources that belong only to US!
We have things others around the world only dream of. And they belong to US!
We have an unparalelled standard of living which belongs to US!
The things we have don't belong to the world, people, they belong to America. Let the rest of the world find its own way. We owe them nothing and they deserve nothing. The UN wants our wealth because it knows that the rest of the world will NEVER match us and thier jealousy has become rage.
Well let them rage on. And let them fester in their squalid poverty forever. We have ours right here. Let's keep it here!!
