How are we suppose to pay for health care when we don't have enough money for insurance?

I am on a small retirement and Social Security Disabilty form a spinal disease. My wife suffers form a eye problems and is almost blind. Insurance for my wife uses up all my retirement and we get $24.00 dollars after paying health insurance for her. Social Security Disabilty does not cover our housing and food expenses. My spinal disease has used up all of our savings and now it looks like we will have to sell our home just to feed ourselves. I had to sell our pickup to get thur last month. We have no money for clothes, auto insurance, home owners insurance, or anything else. We go no where or do anything that cost. We had to take out a second on our hourse. Now we can not make the payments, so pretty soon we will lose our house and will be homeless. I worked 25 years past what the doctors told me I should have been working. I'm at the end of my rope and can see no answer for a way out. Because we have a home we don't qualifiy for any assistance. What are we suppose to do?

I am sorry to hear of your situation. There are things you did not mention like your age. Sometimes you have to make tough decisions in life. This may seem hard and cruel, but my advice is to sell the house before it is taken from you. You did say that the only thing keeping you from getting assistance is because you own the house. Sell the house.

Well i dont know what to say.. i feel really bad for you. i am acctually from south east part of the world so i wont be able to know any exact sollution for you guys. but why dont you try for any charitable organisations who can do treatements for you and stuff. i really feel bad for you. if i come to any service providing so i'll try to bring to your notice. bye... This is why the US health care system is so wrong. I feel for you.

If I were you I'd think of relocating to another country, perhaps Costa Rica.
Costa Rica has great [free in most cases] medical healthcare and is somewhat an inexpensive place to live and retire.
You would be able to apply for residency here, and live well off your pension. All or most medication and doctor fees are covered by a very inexpensive monthly insurance. You can also rent an apartment or perhaps buy a place.
