Auto Accident?
Question:
Are my husband and I at any risk for a law suit?
Answer:
Fortunately, tax liability doesn't have anything to do with legal culpability. If your son is over 18 and not mentally or physically handicapped (prior to the accident) to the point that he is incapable of providing for himself, you should not bear any financial responsibility for his actions. That said, anyone can sue anyone for anything. If an insurance agency or private party tries to get you to pay or bills you at all, get a lawyer... fast. And don't pay anything at ALL with your check or in person. That can be construed (by greedy lawyers) as you taking financial responsibility for the accident.

no you and your hosban shouldnt be at law becasue its your sons fault! does he have a drivers licence?? does he desirve to drive ask your self !!
No your not responsible. However if he transfered any "property" into your name after the accident knowing that he was liable then they could come after that. If they hit him with a major civil suit he can try bankruptcy. While it stays on his credit record for some time (10yrs I think) it would wipe out his debts.
