How long does someone legally have to report an auto accident to their insurance company?
Question:
Answer:
Making a claim of this type will not cause your rates to go up. Contact your company about covering the damage under either uninsured motorist, or collision coverage. You will have a deductible either way, but they will try & get it back from the other company.
Dont you have "NO FAULT INSURANCE" where you live? You notify YOUR insurance co. and end up paying higher premiums, but you get your car fixed. Your own ins. co. represents you and does the leg work and contacts the other ins. co.
On the other hand, if you pay out of pocket to keep your premiums where they are before the accident, you might never get the money back if he did the same thing.
