Are there any auto insurance companies that don't check your credit report?
Question:
Answer:
Just apply to several companies and decline to give your ss#. You may find a smaller co that doesn't require the report.
No
There are a few, but they are usually small, mutual companies in rural areas and their premiums for a car parked and used elsewhere may not be competitive at all.\
Be honest, tell your agent you have some dings in your credit. You will be penalized more for accidents and DUI convictions than bankruptcies or late pays.
Also give the direct marketers a try, like GEICO. They have underwriting standards set on a more broad set of variables than many national insurance carriers.
No, sorry but every insurance company does check your credit. Its part of a program that compares your credit score to the amount of claims you might make. Other words, the insurance world has found that the lower your credit score is the higher chance that you will put in more claims than someone with a higher score. Many states are trying to rid the credit score, but so far none have gone through on it.
Geico i think does not my credit sucks and got there lowest rate.
Nationwide won't deny you a policy for credit but you won't get as big a discount as somebody with good credit. Also the way they check doesn't show up as a beacon hit on credit.
