This page will offer your helpful tips as to what to do when buying used from a dealer or private party under the "state regulations" section. You will also find individual links at the bottom of the page for how-to topics such as title transfers and car registration.

Well, you need to call insurance companies and pick one to get insurance. You will have to give them the Vehicle ID number or VIN, and they will give you documentation of proof of insurance. Once you have that, you and the seller have to go to DMV(you have to find the closest one to you) with the title and they will take care of the rest. You will have to pay sales tax and all reg fees to them.
