Will my auto insurance rates go up if I broke someone else's left mirror?
Question:
Answer:
The way I was told on how coverages are determined is if you in at fault accident, and the damages to the other persons veh, or property is above 1,000 dollars your rates may go up.. If there below that your rates should stay the same... Now if you in a dozen or so accidents that the damages are less then a 1,000 then they may still go up.. Also if your in an accident, and not at fault the damages could be 5,000 dollars to your veh, and your rates should stay the same.. But it does have a lot to do with what state you live in, and what company you have.
Yea, my mom's went up because she got a speeding ticket , so...you probably will.
If you go through the ins, probably. How much is the deductible is involved. Get it fixed rather then go through the insurance, which won't cover that anyway (too little not covered by policy) It will keep them from knowing about "your accident" so they can't raise your rates.
Did you exchange insurance information?
If you don't file a claim, your insurance shouldn't go up. As long as you didn't get a ticket in the process, that is.
Just pay for the repair.
if it claims off your insurance then yes, insurance companies always get their money back and more. if youve paid for it yourself voluntarily then no.
It depends on your insurance company and the state you live in. If you caused damage to a parked car while driving, I would say your risk factor is going to go up a little. The best thing to do in those situations, if you can afford it, is to just pay the other cars owner for the repair. That way your insurance company will never know.
You dont need to have full coverage to cover the other persons car. Your liability insurance covers you for damage you cause to other peoples cars or property while driving your vehicle.
If you have a clean record and you have been driving for a while, I wouldnt worry about it, your insurance wont go up. If you've put in a few claims or have a bad driving record. Your insurance will probably go up a bit. There's no way for any of us to know how much.
Your insurance will cover this...if you wanted them to. If only the mirror needs fixing, then just pay it out of pocket. Your rates will go up if you file the claim. The worst part is typically, insurance companies do not look at how much the claim was, only that there was a claim. So your $200 dollar claim will raise your rates the same as if you had a $20,000 claim. You'd be much better off if you could take care of it without getting your insurance company involved, if you can.
