When should you receive a Proof of Insurance Policy from your Agency?

Question:
I just recently switched auto insurance (Florida). My policy switched over April 28th to a new company, and I still haven't received my cards or policy in the mail. This was set up in the beginning of April, and has been paid in full. 10 days ago I asked about it and she said she sent it in the mail "just the other day", but I still haven't gotten it.

Is there an obligation from the insurance agent to produce proof of insurance (mailing your card) within a certain amount of time from your policy start date?

Is there a law on this for Florida?

(I drive 60 highway miles one way to work every day, so it worries me to not have them)
I usually get that stuff from State Farm in about 1 week. Call the State of Florida regarding this as there could be allowable delays.
i have always got mine the same day coverage/if internet it can be printed/if nothing else have it faxed to u asap/if they fail to follow through contact bbb
You can call your agent and have them fax/email one to you or even better, some of the Insurance companies have the ability to have you print one out online. If you don't get the answer you need, I would go to the office and insist they print some kind of proof out for you. Good luck!
That information should have been given to you before your old policy ran out. They can easily mail that proof of insurance to you.
You can always ask your insurance agent to fax you your insurance cards so that you can put them in your car while awaiting the originals to come. Since you are fully insured, this is not something you should be worried about - if for some reason you did get pulled over, you just let the officer know that your insurance cards are on the way - the worst case scenario - if he doesn't let you go w/out a ticket - is you go to court, show them your insurance cards, and keep the envelope from the mail - that shows the date stamp from the post office, so you can show that you hadn't rec'd the insurance cards in the mail yet.
I tell you what, it sounds like you may not have a very good insurance company...most companies these days will fax or email them asap and then you get the originals about a week later.I would be very leary of this company...I sell insurance and there are some shady companies out there...I happend to work for a very good one though...thank goodness but I would show up at the office and demand cards as your policy is paid in full and you need proof of coverage! If you have any questions I can help you with further do not hesitate to contact me via email. If you tell me what company you have I can tell you if you got a bad one.
