Question:
This is a question that has been bothering me for a long time. 2 accidents I was involved in, but not found at fault for (as in 100% not at fault), happened in April 2004 and April this year 2006. In the first case a report was filed by the police and the second one not. Neither incident resulted in me or anyone else filing claims against my insurance company. My questions is, in applying for insurance with a different company, do they have to know about these accidents even though my current company didn't have to pay out any money? It isn't a question of how good a driver I am, I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Twice.
Answer:
even if you are not at fault, insurance companies notate the incident. this becomes part of your driving record...which is similar to a credit report. insurance companies use this in quoting your rates.
you can order your driving history report from your local DMV. here's a website to get you started.

it is a good idea to have auto insurance when you wreak or get pulled over , but if you don't just tell the truth
if you did not claim then there is no worries about telling anyone about your accidents you still got your no claims bouns
