Need help with Medical Bills?

Question:
My husband and I just recently got married. Back in December he was in a very bad auto accident. He didn't have any health insurance and the auto insurance barely covered anything. We are now left with a $25,000.00 bill from the hospital. We don't qualify for any charity assistance because we live just above poverty level. We also don't want to take their "Help" assistance program which charges 13% interest over a five year period of time. Does anyone have any direction of where to find assistance for these bills? We are very greatful for the hospital and their help, but we have enough bills without this unexpected one.

Answer:
Your best and first try is with the auto insurance. Although you say they barely covered anything, it may be they are responsible for more. Read your policy carefully and see if they should cover more of your medical bills. If so, then contact them first and then an attorney to try to collect what insurance you have paid for.
Maybe you can contact the hospital, explain your situation and ask them about a payment plan. Some hospitals may except but each are different.
Good luck to you.
