Get quotes from both. Do NOT put any faith in Progressives offer of competitive rates!
I was with Geico for a number of years and only dropped them when I qualified for USAA. Never had any problems. I never had any auto claims but did have two homeowner's claims that were settled quickly and fairly.
Geico is better than Progressive. It is cheaper.

stay away from progressive, they are a bunch of crooks, if your credit is less than perfect they will list you as a high risk, put things on your credit report etc, stay away, far away from them. check and see if American Family is available in your area. if so go with them, Very competitive rates and a all around good company to deal with
we had progressive for our big truck,it was totaled. they were Very good to deal with. no problems getting check. they even told us we had underinsured it! you get 24 hour claim service. go with progressive.
