How much of a settlement can i get for an auto accident?
Question:
Answer:
if you do not go through an attorney not much as the insurance co will not pay you what you need. personally think attorneys are a joke, and the biggest legal crooks in the world but they will do the best for you cause they want the most for them.
you need a good accident attorney, and make real sure you don't have medical problems that may come back to haunt you in 10 years. once you sign you are done forever
you need a lawyer to get the most money as they will try to settle for as little as they can get away with if you don't have one, the most you can get is what they are insured for with their co. and if thats not enough you will end up in court sueing them.
The guys above answered it correctly but I'm seconding the fact to get a lawyer NOW! Never deal with an insurance company (especially when its injury related) without one. They lawyer will get his fees from the insurance company so you won't be out of pocket and they will get you more of a settlement than you ever will on your own.
Ok.. whoa whoa... first off.. your being greedy. That money you are getting is for past and future medical expenses.. nothing more. Its not to get a new car.
All you had was soft tissue injuries- your not permenantly injured. YOu will get your 4800 reimbursed... your 200 in lost wages.. and MAYBE and i stress MAYBE 500-1000 for "inconvenience and future medical expenses"
This isnt the lottery... this is simply to make you back whole. Your already got paid for your car and rental.. that is done. This is injury alone- please dont be greedy.
I cant stress enough how wrong the people above me are. Im sorry.. i know this is kinda evil.. but i love when i make someone an offer for an injury (lets say 2500) and they go off and get an attorney. A year or two down the road.. when they do finally settle.. they always end up with WAY LESS money then i offered... after the lawyer takes the cut.. and after all the medical expenses are paid.. they maybe have 200-300 dollars for themselves.
An educated person does not need a lawyer for a soft tissue injury. I mean.. unless you want to help him get a new car.
