Auto Insurance ? Never had it. Can anybody help.?

Question:
I have called for quotes.. to many auto insurance companies. But since this my first time purchase I am confused, Can someone break down the features of a policy, what am i to have, what is reccomended. thanks , any details will help.

Answer:
What's most important is to know what your state requires.

This will explain all the terms for you:
Easy...

Collision - if you rear end someone, you need this feature in order for your insurance to pay for it. If you do not have collision and you rear end someone, then you get sued!

Liability - It usually covers theft...

You should have both, and yes, car insurance is expensive, especially for you young ones.
Basic liabilty depends on each state and their minimum limits that are required, it basically protects the other person. Full coverage, comp & collision, should be on a car that has a lein on it--you still owe on it, because it covers you in case of loss...you can have comp(fire, theft, vadelism) by itself, but you can't have collison without having comp. There are alot of different companies, start with the big ones then work your way down to a small, local agency. Good luck
I have been scammed several times from insurance companies, do not let them do the same to you.
