Can you get auto insurance with just a learner's permit?

Question:

Answer:
Typically auto insurance companies will only write insurance policies for drivers with a valid license. Which makes sense, because even with a learners permit, you are ultimately not the one who carries the responsibility and/or liability in case of an accident... It's the adult who is riding in the car with you. Once you get your valid driver's license, you can get your own auto insurance policy. Good luck!
on a learners permit, your PARENTS can add you to their policy to drive their vehicle. Once you get a license, you can be added as a primary driver of their vehicle, or then get your own insurance. You can only be added to someone elses insurance while using a permit. I would definitely advise any parent with a young driver to update their insurance to cover the teen who will be driving with an adult in the car during possession of the permit
Matters the state. typically No.
