Why do insurance companies take recorded statements ?

Question:
Why would an insurance company want a recorded statement from me? This is regarding a auto accedint where their insured was at fault.

Answer:
Recorded statements are simply to have a record of what you are claiming. This is used when there is a liaiblity question. When one party states one thing, and the other party states another. The adjuster will use the recordings to listen to both parties, and make a determination on how the loss occured. Also it is used in case the stories change. You might state the facts one way one day, then the stories change. Nothing to worry about if your honest:-)
From my experience with insurance companies, it is a small precaution for them to record the conversation. this allows them to use that instead of them sending a sapina out to bring you to court, it's there to protect you and to protect them.
