I had a minor accident in a pkg lot. No damage to my car, but minor damage to a new Lexus SUV. I would prefer not reporting the accident to my insurance company. I'm just worried that the Lexus dealer will over-charge for the repairs. The major scratch was on the passenger door, lower panel. Any suggestions on how best to handle once I get the estimate from Lexus. I just want to be sure that I will pay what an insurance company would pay. Thx!
get an estimate from a local reputable body shop. most of them will be connected with insurance companies and will be in line price wise. oh yeah, be sure the other party is ok with using the body shop of choice to avoid any trouble later.

The insurance co won't raise your rate if this is your first accident. Remember you may have a deductible as well, ask the person if they can work with you and go to other shops and try get some lessor estimates. If not then you would be best to turn it in so you don't really get stuck.
