hell yes. i'm not racist by any means but i think they should pay. if it were an american without the insurance, you better believe we would have to cover the cost if we casued the accident. the same thing happened to my roommate. her mom was in visiting and a car full of mexicans slammed into her brand new car. the driver didn't have a license and spoke no english. the cop gave them a ticket for the accident and gave them a ticket for having a knife in the car. but my roommates mom hasn't gotten anything paid yet nor can she get ahold of the police officer. i think it is crazy. mexicans say that want to be in our country but they don't want to pay the consecuences and abide by american law. its simple if you don't have a license and you don't have insurance then don't freakin' drive. hell, they don't know the laws cos they can't even read them. to answer you questions, yes the police should do more but they won't because of politics. local government can't deport illegals. plus it would cost more to deport them than the damage they caused. mexicans are taking over everywhere, and we as americans are going to have to adjust (as much as i hate to say). we can no longer count on the other driver to cover the insurance cost thats why we must have full coverage on our on cars.

How frustrating is it that local police dont really have authority to arrest/detain illegals? Seems to me, driving without a license, having a fake green card, and not having insurance should equal at least some jail time or, even better, deportation. Unfortunately, I think all your friend can do is sue, but he wont get anything out of them if he can even find them.
Ever happens again get the Police's badge number and ask them nicely. Ask the courts too. And write the paper. And demand follow ups.
If you have contact information, give it to the INC. I have no sympathy for people who come here illegally and don't take financial responsibility for the damage they cause others.

I think that anyone, regardless of race, should be punished for not having proper auto insurance on their vehicles. That is just one of the most irresponsible things to do in the world in my opinion! Driving without insurance...that's sick!

I'm surprised all the Mexicans on this site didn't respond. Sometimes silence really is golden, the only thing they can do is call you a racist. Too bad for your friend, it really is a shame the extent to which we subsidize illegal labor in this country and nobody seems to care.
