In auto insurance, is agent a must?

Question:

Answer:
No, but it is suggested.

If you are located in Illinois or Indiana call 217-246-2817 for a quote.
No, not really. You can check some great rates online without an agent. My suggestion is to google it and see what you find. However, if you are in an accident it is easier if you have an insurance agent to handle somethings for you.
No, but an agent is good to help you with recommendations about what coverages you need and which ones you don't. It's also a mistake to think that buying insurance direct is always cheaper than going through an agent. It all depends in some cases it is; in others an agent will get you the best rate.

I would call an independent agent to get a quote and then compare it with Progressive or Geico and see who's best overall. I can vouch for Progressive (they have great customer service and are very professional if there's a claim) I'm not as familiar with Geico though.
