Does anyone buy the extra insurance when renting a car is the car covered with my full coverage auto insurance
Question:
Answer:
Absolutely! Now if you don’t have the money, then don’t because your insurance will pay for it. However, if you got the extra cash, then do it. The benefit is that if you get into an accident, or damage the car, you get off without any penalty. The rental car company will come pick it up, and give you a new car. Of course your normal insurance will do this as well, but with the extra insurance you don’t have to pay a deductible or have the accident go against your record. Therefore, you can save yourself $250 to $1000 depending on your deductible, and because it doesn’t go on your insurance, you don’t have to worry about an insurance premium increase! How cool is that!?
I’m not a rental car employee, but I’ve rented hundreds of cars. This is my understanding of the benefit.
I don't buy extra...but I checked with my ins agent first. You should check too.
Also, check with your credit card company...they usually cover the damage waiver
I normally don't get the extra insurance due to my full coverage from Allstate covers me when I rent. If you use a Platinum C/C for your security, It usually will cover your Damage waiver Ded. They don't tell you that when you rent, but if you ask them, they will tell you it does.
Depends on the car insurance company and your coverages. Basically, if you have full coverage then it will transfer to the rental car.
