How much is a bruised spinal cord worth in an auto insurance settlement?

Question:

Answer:
Regarding the insurance settlement all you will get from the insurance company is the bodily injury per person liability limit listed on the drivers policy. In some states the minumum required is as low as $10,000. In states like Florida it is legal to not carry any liability coverge. Auto insurance does not pay for pain and suffering. If you wanted any compensation for any damages that exceed the limits of the responsible person's policy, or for things that are not covered at all, you would have to sue the driver who was at fault in the accident. Their insurance company is off the hook once it pays out the limits of the policy. Find out what the responsible driver has for coverage. Call your insurance company. If you have higher limits you can make a claim with your insurance company and they will pay and then they will deal with getting their money back from the other guy and you won't be left high and dry in the meantime. You also may have uninsured (if the driver had no insurance) or underinsured (they didn't have enough insurance) motorist coverage that will help cover any medical costs. Good luck.
