They imagine that our fate is tied to that of the rest of the world. It is probably very little money compared to the numbers flowing through. Security in the world means less problems that will come to us. As a world leader we must somewhat appease the envy and jealousy that many have for us even if it can be costly. Fighting diseases in other places is also in our interest to stop before it becomes an epidemic that affects us directly or stews and grows mutating into something far more deadly to us all.

the benefit of knowing other humans in other countries arent starving to death and dying from stupid, easy to cure diseases.

America uses it as a blackmail tool to the indebtted countires, just like the European powers do. Besides, Americans wouldnt have an NHS system, like here in Britain..its probably seen as too Communist *sighs*
