I lost my license a while back and they told me after 30 days, i could get it back by "finacial responsibility" better known as SR-22. I must maintain auto insurance for 3 years straight. I was working at an auto auction where a license is required valid. I purchased a car through an uato loan and didn't think about the spike in insurance cost. I stopped paying insurance because it was more than my monthly car note. So I lost my L's... as well as my job... I got pulled over 2wice for expired tabs and no insurance and I didn't respond or pay, they never impounded my car or took me to jail. Now I have to go to court on July 11th for "Criminal driving on a suspended license in the 3rd degree" I don't know that severity in that because I guess I didn't receive the court date in the mail the first time and because I missed it I got a warrant and alreayd went through the jail process. Now I must go to this court date and I don't know what to expect. I have no means of income right now. HELP!

You knew the risk when you embarked on this little journey by cancelling your insurance. This is exactly why those laws are in place. I was hit by an uninsured motorist about 6 years ago and it ended up costing me about $40,000. I am sorry but I don't have lot of sympathy for you. Maybe some jail time will help you think about your responsibilities and how you are going to meet them.
While I can't speak for all states as well as judges it sure sounds as if you've already been found guilty of the first offense which if you had paid the fine and obtained at a minimum liability insurance the legal problems would have been less severe. My best guess is the judge will give some jail time,additional fines and work detail for which resitution can be paid that way. With respect to all but jails are no longer motels. The inmates earn their keep.
YOU ARE SCREWED! There were avenues you could have taken toward the beginning, when things started to go wrong, to nip this in the bud. But you have taken it way too far. .. Which goes back to my first sentence.
