What happens in the state of Ohio if someone gets into an auto accident without insurance?
Question:
Answer:
judging by the nature of your question i am guessing that you or someone you know has been or is in this situation. well, the answers are not easy. if the accident was your fault you can expect to be not only prosecuted by the state but also by the other persons insurance company. the state will take your license for an undetermined amount of time. anywhere beween 90 days to a year or more. if the accident was not your fault then the other persons insurance company will have to pay for your damages including medical bills. but this does not mean that the state will not pursue legal action against you for failure to maintain financial responsibility. remember when you went to purchase your plates you had to sign a form stating that you would not drive without insurance. so if this is the case then you are in a world of sh*t. the only way you will get your license back when the smoke clears is to carry an sr-22 bond and high risk insurance which you must maintain for a minimum of 5 years. now if this is scaring you it should. driving without insurance is like poking a crocodile with a stick----sooner or later something bad will happen. good luck.
you get ef 'd up the b/***
In california, every driver/car must have insurance. So if an out of state driver with no insurance was driving in California, and was pulled over, I think he would be cited. If he was in an accident, it would be a living hell for him or her.
So if Ohio requires insurance, the driver is responsible for maintaining insurance. If they get popped without it, or get in an accident, it would be a living hell for that person
well i know if your the person without the insurance you will lose your liscence for a certain amount of time that will probably be decided by the judge
i would say if your the person that got hit by a person without insurance if you had full coverage you would be covered and your insurance would pay for everything but your rates may go up but if you had liability coverage on your car your more or less screwed im sure you can sue the person that hit you but that would be your only chance on getting your car fixed
If you're the person without insurance, it's possible you'll lose your license for 90 days, but it's also possible you'll get a slap on the wrist. It really depends on how many donuts the cop had that day, but I think the slap on the wrist is more likely.
If you're the person hit by the person without insurance, tough luck. You get to pay for it, even if it was their fault.
