Why is NJ auto insurance so obscenely priced?
Question:
Oh, btw, I am speaking of someone who lives in Englewood Cliffs and has no accidents, no DUIs and one violation on their record. They pay $10,000 to insure 3 cars with 2 drivers.
Answer:
I used to live in NJ and (thankfully) moved away because it became ridiculously expensive to live in the Northeast Corridor's armpit (sorry, but it is). The short answer to your question is that NJ is the most densely populated state in the US. The long answer is in addition to that, there is so much corruption in state government and so many back-room deals going on behind certain officials in the Dept. of Banking and Insurance and the heads of some auto insurance companies, there will likely never be any relief.
As a 23-year old, I was looking at spending $6500 for 12 months of coversage for 1 car -- and it was a 3-year old car, too. So, no thanks. F--- New Jersey, I moved away 7 years ago and have been extremely happy since.
Well - there's your answer, isn't it? ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS?
Plus all the other 'seamy' facts and figures that you provided - - -
If things are truly that negative there - why are you staying??
I left (on a dead run) MANY, MANY, years ago --- from Fort Lee.
NJ has the highest concentration of drivers and cars in the US per mile. That means more accidents, more claims, hence higher prices.
per year..or every six months?
I would really like to know I work in insurance..
I think you answered your own question. Give yourself ten points, LOL.
You just answered your own question.
The high accident rate up there and the number of fraudulent claims.
High fraud and strict government regulations...
