Do insurance companies charge more for autos that are red?

Question:

Answer:
No

The color of a vehicle does not effect the insurance rates.

Insurance companies do not even ask about color!
no
Not unless the red is blood from an accident.
NO. UNLESS ITS CONSIDER A SPORTS CAR.
i heard that this is true. it was in an article i read about 4 years ago.
Yes, they do, because it's a fact [well they say it is] that pepole in red cars drive more aggressively, and people around red cars drive more aggressively. Which is stupid, because if you have a huge red luxury car, it's not like you're going to be zipping in and out of traffic, but that's just how they do things. And ALL cars that are red have higher insurance
No. That is a lie. I own a Fire engine Red 1999 Pontiac Grand AM GT and I pay $67.50 a month full coverage through Amica Insurance.
No, but cops target red cars. I was racing a blue BMW and I got pulled over, not him. When I asked the cop why he got me and not the other guy he said, "because you have the shiny red car"
nope, rather they would give you a discount on your premium
Actually they do for sports cars. My insurance was a tad higher on my camaro because it was red. But those three characters that said Z28 cost me the most with my insurance company. I don't know if it is higher on family cars and the like.
Colors no.. It's usually rated by Vin Number (higher priced options like a v-8 in a sports car compared to a v-6), driving record, and credit score (more people who have bad credit scores tend to drive worse)
NO!
No. Insurance companies don't even ask the color of the vehicle -- at least none of the ones that I've ever dealt with have. And there is no way to tell the color from the VIN either.

I have two red cars and there's nothing in my policy about the vehicles' colors.
No. They never even ask the color nor does the VIN state what color it is. This is a common myth that based on 'red cars are sports cars, sport cars driver drive faster, makes more speeding tickets, higher rate'

Color has nothing to do with it.
I have never been asked what color the car unless it was involved in an accident or was stolen. Some companies when filling out the paper work like the vechile inspection form, they will ask sometimes. But not in my state it doesn't matter what color it is--
rates are based on: YEAR- MAKE- MODEL- ENGINE SIZE COST NEW - COST TO REPAIR - SAFETY EQUIPMENT -
a pickup that 4 wheel drive will usually cost more than one just like it but 2 wheel drive
a car that is 2 door is more than the same car that 4 door because 4 door cars are more family autos
a forgein car or truck is usually more than one that is produce in the US
Most companies go by ISO symbols and they are based on the cost new of the vechile, so if you bought a 10,000 red sports car instead of a 10,000 family sedan you would pay the same. Now, some companies have their own rating system on cars and that is when the above is more true.
Sorry to ramble on, but no, the color doesn't have anything to do with in.God bless us all
No it is a myth.
Nope, but the Po Po sure loves them.LOL
No, but the cops stop you more often. I had a red CRX and got stopped so many times that I had it painted black. Is true. My brother the cop says I'm full of bull that it is a myth that cops stop red cars just because they are red. Okay, if you say so. But I would get stopped so often I used to watch the cop in my mirror and when they didn't go around me right away I'd just pull over. (Seems to me they were always tailing me waiting for a reason.) And, sure enough, they'd pull over with me. They'd ask "How'd you know I was going to stop you?" I'd just laugh and say "Red CRX." Many times they would follow me in my blind spot. I swear is true. For 2, 3 or more miles they would be right there with me in my blind spot! I rarely got tickets, thankfully. Since I painted it black 4 years ago I haven't been tailed since.
I will never buy another red car again. Not only that, the sun is really hard on red paint.
